This site has been established to contribute to the ongoing research of the Brunette family in South Africa.
It is hoped that this will serve as a way to generate interest in the subject and connect people who would like to share information.
The 1989 South African voters roll lists around 200 Brunettes. There is strong evidence to suggest that virtually all of these family members are descended from two Brunettes who moved to South Africa in the early 1800s. (See the Family History page for details.)
It is obvious from the names on the 1989 voters roll that at least half of the Brunette families in South Africa today are Afrikaans speaking.
It would be fascinating to fit all these extended family units into one big family tree. It is my hope that as more Brunettes come forward we will be able to completely solve this puzzle.
Research is currently focused on:
1. Exploring the European origins of the family.
2. Identifying Brunettes living in South Africa today.
3. Building the family trees for each of the Brunette lines.
